WHAT
WE
NEED:
At
the
bare
minimum
we
are
asking
for
$10,000
provides
roads,
$10,000
finishes
the
first
cabin,
and
$5,000
heavy
equipment
rental
($25,000).
But
to
achieve
financial
stability
and
independence
we
also
need
3
more
cabins
at
$45,000
each
($135,000
for
a
grand
total
of
$155,000).
Like
any
large
organization,
like
the
VFW
or
American
Legion,
millions
would
also
help
us
repeat
this
venture
in
every
state
helping
hundreds of thousands of Veterans.
A
penny
is
a
dollar
too
(if
you
have
the
other
99
already).
Recycling
materials
can
cut
costs
and
we
upcycle
as
much
as
we
can.
In
some
cases
the
cost
of
building
a
cabin
can
be
reduced
by
as
much
as
75%
and
Habitat
for
Humanity
is
one
place
that
we
shop
for
scratch
and
dented
items.
For
instance
a
$750
stove
cost
$50.
Wood
from
a
reclaimed
barn
helped
reduce
wood
costs
and
provides
a
warm
aged
patina
to
the
interior
or
exterior
of
a
cabin.
The
photo
to
the
right
is
a
kitchen
that
I
remodel
in
Tennessee
(project
cost
$2,500 complete).
THE BOTTOM LINE
We
cannot
do
this
alone.
Even
if
it
is
just
your
time
as
a
volunteer,
bring
a
plant
for
landscaping,
gently
used
building materials, or cash it all makes a difference.
